From 14-15 October 2021, the CERILAC and LARCA research institutes at the Université de Paris, will host ‘The Video Essay’, an online conference on the form and future of videographic criticism.  Following an introduction by Diane Arnaud, Ariane Hudelet and our editorial board member Martine Beugnet, the conference features presentations by Catherine Grant (Birkbeck, University of London) on “Performing Videographic Film Studies in the Online Flow”, Kevin B Lee (Merz Akademie, Stuttgart) on “A Videographic Future Beyond Film”, a video essay screening and discussion with Jason Mittell (Middlebury College) and more. Bringing together established video essayists and researchers who have recently come to the form, the conference aims to contextualize the field of videographic criticism in France as well as initiate international collaborations. More information on the conference can be found here.
