Conference – ‘Time and the Body in Film, Television and Screen Studies’ (BAFTSS)

From 7-9 April 2021, the University of Southampton Centre for International Film Research (CIFR) will be hosting the annual BAFTSS conference, which will take place entirely online. With the theme of ‘Time and the Body in Film, Television and Screen Studies’, the conference aims to bring attention to the construction of time and the body in (and through) technology, culture and art. Possible topics range from different treatments of time and the body across historical, national or regional contexts to the connection between particular understandings of corporeal properties and stardom and performance. To increase participation and accessibility, the conference will not feature keynote speakers, but a series of round table discussions. In addition to individual paper presentations and audiovisual essays, panels with 3-4 participants provide opportunities for discussion between participants and the audience. Abstracts for individual papers (300  words) as well as proposals for workshops and pre-convened panels can be submitted until 1 December 2020. More information on the conference here.
