Conference – ‘Pier Paolo Pasolini / Riprese Reprises Retakes’

December 5, 2021/in News /by Greg DeCuir
Tags: conference, film studies, Pasolini

Following a joint series of screenings and presentations, Concordia University, Université du Québec à Montréal, and St. Paul University in Ottawa will be hosting the 3-day conference ‘Pier Paolo Pasolini / Riprese Reprises Retakes’ from 17-19 March 2022 in Montréal and Ottawa. Playing on the richness of the linguistic heritage of Montreal and Ottawa, the conference asks participants to reflect on three keywords: Ripresa, which in Italian means both recovery or restart as well as film shooting; Reprise, which in French means resumption, revival, restart; and in English, Retake, which means to shoot a scene one more time. This constellation of alliterative meanings is meant as a starting point to explore the global and transcultural reverberations of Pasolini’s multimedia oeuvre and to open up questions of its futurities. Proposals (250 words) can be submitted until 15 December 2021 via e-mail to luca.caminati@concordia.ca and jupaquette@ustpaul.ca.
