Symposium – ‘Genre/Nostalgia’
The previously postponed film and television studies symposium ‘Genre/Nostalgia’ has announced a new date and deadline for submissions: The one-day symposium, hosted by the University of Hertfordshire, will take place on 6 January 2021, and explore the relationship and interaction between film and television genres and nostalgia, memory and other manifestations of the past. Potential topics range from retro style in film and television genres to the role of nostalgia in remakes and reboots across media forms. The keynote ‘Nostalgia for British Comedy’s Past: Monty Python, the 1960s and 1970s, and Fan Memories’ will be given by Dr Kate Egan, Northumbria University. Abstracts for conference papers and alternative forms of presentation can be submitted until 2 October 2020. More information can be found here.
