Publication – ‘Images Festival Research Forum’
Calls to decentre structures of cultural and political power have grown increasingly louder in the pandemic era. The 2021 edition of the Images Festival Research Forum invited different collectives and collective-like bodies of individuals – including Forensic Architecture, the Kinomatics Project and the inaugural curatorial team for the Toronto Biennial of Art – to explore the theme of #decentralization as the practice of freedom. The session recordings, curated playlist featuring a variety of media examples as well as key recommendations and practices from the collectives are available via the open access Forum catalogue. Documenting the joys and struggles that were shared among participants, the publication aims to serve as tools for anyone that may want to incorporate decentralized thinking and acting into their operations.
