Tags: conference, filmmaking, online conference

From 16-17 April 2021, the Department of Film and Television at Istanbul Bilgi University will be hosting the conference ‘Teaching Women’s Filmmaking’. Following previous conferences on ‘Female Agency and Subjectivity in Film and Television’ and ‘Gender Equality and Sustainability: Agnès Varda’s Sustaining Legacy’, this year’s focus will blend scholarship with pedagogy. After a keynote by scholar and video essayist Catherine Grant, the first day of the conference will be dedicated to traditional academic papers and roundtables while the second day will be focused on audiovisual criticism. The deadline for submissions (traditional paper proposals, roundtable panel proposals or video essay submissions) is 1 February 2021. Potential topics include women as documentary filmmakers, women’s filmmaking and national cinema(s) and women in transnational screen industries. Please direct all inquiries and submissions to Nilüfer Neslihan Arslan nilufer.arslan@bilgi.edu.tr.
